 ABOUT ALEX SAPOZHNIK

Alex Sapozhnik is a character actor, writer, and producer residing in NYC.

Alex was born in Odessa, Ukraine and then moved to Brooklyn, New York where he was raised. His father, Arkady, is an artist who also worked as a loader in a chocolate factory in Ukraine. His mother, Svetlana, studied biology. They met each other while training in a pantomime class in a theater performance school in Odessa.

Alex is bilingual. He grew up reading books, watching movies, writing, and listening to music in both Russian and English. Luckily, the Russian film industry also dubbed many foreign films. He was exposed to many classic French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Indian films.

He first studied acting at age 12 at the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music while continuing his childhood studies in violin, piano, and music theory.

He then joined the Theater Guild in New Utrecht High School and later continued taking acting courses at Brooklyn College. His mother begged him to get his bachelors degree as a "back up" so he gained a degree in English. While studying English fiction he continued to take acting courses, film courses, and further studied Restoration Theater, Shakespeare, creative writing, and playwriting.

After graduating college and saving enough money, Alex trained at The William Esper Studio for acting.

He is heavily inspired and influenced by character actors from American and foreign films including: Pierre Richard, Adriano Celentano, Louis de Funes, Lon Chaney, Paul Reubens, Steve Buscemi, Chistopher Walken, Chistopher Lloyd, Mel Brooks, Danny DeVito, Buster Keaton, Jim Carrey, and Charlie Chaplin.

A metamorphic performer - ready for anything and full of energy. He gives everything to all his roles.

He’s a firm believer in living truthfully under imaginary circumstances, doing the research, and not being afraid to dive deep to create something unique and universal. He also believes that making people laugh is important.
